Videography vs. Photography: Do You Need Both for Your Wedding in Cornwall?

Cornwall is not only a well-loved holiday destination, it’s a fabulous place for weddings. There’s a reason this part of Britain has been used as a filming location for so many romantic period dramas, including Poldark and numerous Rosamund Pilcher adaptations.

From its dramatic coastline and sandy beaches, through to the beauty of the Cornish countryside, what better backdrop for your wedding? All it takes is a skilled photographer and videographer to make the most of this setting.

If that’s what you’re looking for, I would love to be on your shortlist. I am based in Cornwall and Devon and offer both Super 8 films and digital and analogue photography. My pictures and films are documentary-style and tell the story of your big day.

So, why include both film and photograph your wedding?

A wedding day is a tapestry of fleeting moments, from joyful glances to heartfelt vows and those raucous celebrations. Both photography and videography enable you to preserve those memories in unique ways.

If you’re planning a wedding in Cornwall, understanding the advantages of each medium can help you make a well informed decision that aligns with your vision and budget.

The Art of
Wedding Photography

Photography is an indispensable part of any wedding day. Since I offer both digital and analogue photographs, I can capture your big day in a variety of styles. From the tender exchange of rings to the dance floor celebrations, I ensure nothing is overlooked.

Photographs provide timeless keepsakes that can be displayed in albums, framed or shared online. Naturally, you want them to be the most beautiful pictures that you own. I work hard to deliver creative compositions that are moving, emotional and worth treasuring for a lifetime.

However, while photographs are irreplaceable, they don’t capture the dynamism of your big day. Without a film, you might not capture the complete ambiance of the event.

T
he Essence of Wedding Videography

Videography is one of the most dynamic ways to preserve your memories. With my Super 8 films, you can relive your wedding day in a more immersive way.

My
Super 8 films are wonderful at capturing the emotional resonance of an event.  This unique medium is uniquely moving and especially suits the romantic atmosphere of Cornwall.

I also ensure your film tells a story. It will be well-edited to narrate the day's events seamlessly.

Videography enables you to experience the atmosphere, energy, and emotions of your wedding day repeatedly.

However, I appreciate that videography isn’t for everyone. You’re also less likely to look at them so often. Unlike photos that can be quickly glanced at, videos require dedicated time to watch and fully appreciate.

Do You Need Both?

The decision to incorporate both photography and videography into your Cornwall wedding hinges on personal preferences, budget, and how you wish to relive your special day. Combining both services means you can preserve your memories with the best of both worlds.

Benefits of Including Both Film and Photography

Since I offer both options, I can ensure that no moment goes unnoticed. You can enjoy more perspectives on your big day, with a film and pictures capturing different moments.

Nowadays, it’s a great way to futureproof your memories. Having both photos and videos allows you to choose how you wish to reminisce, catering to different moods and preferences over time.

Many couples initially consider only photography due to budget constraints but find that adding videography enhances the value of their investment. Imagine sharing a highlight reel or full video of your wedding day with future generations.

Cornwall's Unique Backdrop

Cornwall's enchanting coastline and gardens provide an idyllic setting for weddings. The region's natural beauty looks stunning in both photography and videography, so it’s definitely worth having both.

I make the most of Cornwall's dramatic cliffs and serene beaches for striking portraits. These are also wonderful for
Super 8 films, which have that nostalgic feel to them. Since they don’t capture sound, they provide a uniquely moving experience. You can also have music placed over the footage is preferred.

Making Your Decision

When deciding between photography, Super 8, or both for your Cornwall wedding,  consider what means most to you. Do you prefer the tangibility of photos or also want your day brought vividly to life with moving footage? Ultimately, the choice is deeply personal.

I’m happy to talk you through the types of photography and videography I offer.  If you want to know more about Super 8 films, or the type of analogue equipment I use, I’m always available to provide more details.
